Greens and Fairways: MTE’s Golf Course Projects

Golf has experienced a remarkable surge in popularity across Ontario, prompting the industry to respond by focusing on expanding and upgrading facilities to better meet the evolving needs of golfers.

This growing focus on golf course development not only caters to the expanding player base but also reflects a broader commitment to enhancing the quality and accessibility of the sport across the region. 

MTE continues to hold experience across a diverse array of engineering disciplines, including delivering expertise to a wide range of golf course projects throughout Ontario. Our portfolio reflects a deep understanding of the various demands of golf course development and maintenance, highlighting our proficiency in addressing the unique challenges presented by various projects. 

MTE has curated a list of memorable golf courses we have worked on, let’s dive in: 

Burlington Golf Club 

The Burlington Golf Club is a prestigious country club with an over 100-year history. Consisting of an 18-hole golf course, a curling facility with a history of hosting numerous championships, an award-winning clubhouse, and a spacious patio with a stunning waterfront view. 

MTE provided surveying, along with structural engineering services for the Burlington Golf and Country Club.  

Our surveying team provided a Surveyors Real Property Report for the 422 North Shore Boulevard East Buildings, Road Boundary & Parking Lot Locate.  

Our structural team helped provide a Structural General Review of Construction for the curling arena roof and a structural assessment for the brick support detail of the buildings. 

Oakville Golf Club 

The Oakville Golf Club is a private, year-round, member-owned establishment in the center of Oakville. The course offers beautiful facilities and professional services to elevate the experience of golfing, dining, and social events for its members, their families, and guests. 

MTE provided civil engineering services for the expansion and addition of the existing club house at Oakville Golf course. 

MTE’s role in the project as the civil consultant included the detailed site grading, servicing and stormwater management design for Site Plan Approval and Building Permit and construction inspection. 

Whistle Bear Golf Club 

Whistle Bear Golf Club focuses on family membership and involvement, with a unique vision to evolve into a multi-sport facility. Unlike traditional clubs, Whistle Bear provides an expanded experience with its hospitality, weddings, and multi-sport facilities. 

MTE provided surveying, civil, and structural engineering services over the years for the development and the renovations of Whistle Bear Golf Club.  

Our survey team completed a construction layout for the clubhouse on the property.

Our civil team completed various projects over the years, including the implementation of the course’s site plan, left turn lane, fire flow, and building layout for the clubhouse.

Our structural team developed the structural design for the addition and renovation of the clubhouse, as well as the cold/dry storage building. 

Westmount Golf Club 

Westmount Golf Club has long been celebrated as one of Canada’s premier private clubs, featuring a course admired by golfing legends, and designed by the renowned Stanley Thompson. In addition, its curling and tennis facilities are equally renowned for their excellence. 

MTE provided civil, structural, and building science engineering services over the years.

MTE’s role in the project as the civil consultant included the detailed design for the replacement of a stretch of sanitary sewer from the main building towards the outlet at Westgate Walk. 

Our building restoration team provided a Building Condition Assessment (BCA) Peer Review for several structures on the property. 

Our structural team provided the structural design for the Club’s deck renovations. 

White Squirrel Golf Club 

In the spring of 2018, White Squirrel Investments Ltd. acquired White Squirrel Golf Club with the vision of enhancing the golf course’s appeal and establishing a welcoming clubhouse. This new chapter includes offering quality, locally sourced cuisine, an extensive selection of beers, wines, and spirits, as well as various entertainment options. 

MTE provided geotechnical and civil engineering services for White Squirrel Golf Club. 

Our geotechnical team completed a geotechnical investigation, with the purpose of determining the soil and groundwater conditions in the proposed bridge area and provide geotechnical engineering recommendations for site preparation, bridge foundations, and excavations and dewatering. 

Our civil team completed a septic design for the wastewater system by design modifications to the existing wastewater system. This included the conversion of the existing sludge storage tank to an Equalization Tank complete with pumps and the provision of a new sludge storage tank near the existing treatment system. 

Ladies Golf Club of Toronto  

The Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto is North America’s sole remaining private golf club founded by women for women.

The project included a 3,600 sq. ft., one-level addition and renovation to the existing golf clubhouse, bringing the total area of the existing clubhouse to 8,230 sq. Ft. 

MTE provided civil engineering services for this project. MTE’s role in the project as the civil consultant included the detailed site grading, servicing and stormwater management design for Site Plan Approval and Building Permit and construction inspection.  

TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley 

Situated in Caledon’s Credit River valley, Osprey Valley features three 18-hole courses, with the Heathlands course being the most established. More recently, Golf Canada, in collaboration with the PGA TOUR, has announced that the renovated 7,445-yard North Course will provide a formidable challenge for PGA TOUR stars in 2025. 

MTE provided civil and structural engineering services for the development of the new ±18,019 SF 1-storey Heathlands clubhouse building for TPC Toronto at the Osprey Valley Golf Course. 

Our civil team provided construction services, shop-drawing review, site visits and reports, and construction administration as the project continues to progress.
