MTE Consultants Acquires RIZZ Engineering, Strengthening Expertise in Structural Design and Precast Concrete

SERVICES

Geoscience

MTE’s Geotechnical and Hydrogeological teams provide specialized insight into the behavior of soil, rock, and groundwater to support safe, sustainable development.

Practical geoscience solutions that drive confident decisions

We deliver practical, data-driven solutions for commercial, industrial, residential, institutional, and municipal projects—ranging from foundation and settlement analysis to pavement design, infiltration testing, and groundwater studies. We help clients understand ground conditions, manage risk, and make informed decisions from the ground up.

Geotechnical engineering

MTE’s Geotechnical Engineering team provides expert analysis and practical solutions to support safe, efficient development. We work across commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and municipal projects—new builds and reconstructions alike. Using boreholes, test pits, and monitoring wells, we investigate subsurface conditions to assess how soil, rock, and groundwater may impact construction.

Our services include:

  • Geotechnical engineering and analysis
  • Field investigations
  • Foundation recommendations
  • Pavement design and analysis
  • Slope stability analysis

Hydrogeological and groundwater resources

MTE’s hydrogeological experts deliver groundwater studies that guide development decisions and sustainable design. Our geoscience team helps clients assess and protect this vital resource while meeting regulatory and project requirements.

Key areas where we support groundwater and hydrogeological projects include:

  • Hydrogeological Investigations
  • Drinking Water Treatment Studies
  • Source Water Protection Studies
  • Aggregate Resources
  • Nutrient Management Plans
  • Quality Monitoring and Modelling
  • Dewatering Assessments
  • Ministry of the Environment Permit To Take Water

Aggregate Resources

In Ontario, the excavation of sand, gravel, and bedrock is regulated under the Aggregate Resources Act (ARA). When aggregate is extracted from below the water table, it can create ponds that may alter groundwater flow, increase evaporation rates, and raise water temperatures. To prevent negative impacts on natural features and local water supplies, a Hydrogeological Investigation is required.

Agricultural operations seeking to convert farmland for aggregate extraction must also assess surface water and groundwater impacts.

Our hydrogeological team provides support through all stages of the permitting and approvals process for surface and groundwater management. Our team helps ensure your project meets regulatory requirements while maintaining environmental integrity.
