MTE's Involvement
A standout feature of the facility is its vehicle bay, which accommodates 40 ambulances and 20 supervisor vehicles. The bay incorporates vestibules at overhead doors, a first-of-its-kind energy efficiency measure in Canadian ambulance facilities, resulting in a 17% reduction in energy consumption. Additionally, the use of a mass timber structural system has reduced the building’s embodied carbon by 34% compared to conventional steel designs — a significant achievement in sustainable infrastructure.
MTE is proud to have provided civil engineering and surveying services for this project.
Our team played a key role in the site planning and development process, including a land survey and an in-depth investigation of underground utilities and existing services. This groundwork was crucial in ensuring the seamless integration of infrastructure needed to support the facility’s performance and sustainability objectives.
