Project Overview

Our team has been providing civil and structural engineering services in support of Coletara’s Platinum Condos, an iconic 24-storey tower in Hamilton’s vibrant downtown that has brought 280 new suites to area. Located on a prime 0.215-ha property at the corner of King Street West and Queen Street South, the tower features a prominent glass, concrete and brick façade, with podium-level retail.

The first two storeys of the building are occupied by a church and retail space, with the remaining 22 storeys consisting of residential suites. Residents benefit from both underground and above-ground parking. Supported on a 1.5-metre-thick raft foundation, the building structure consists of a four-storey, cast-in-place concrete podium supporting 20 storeys of precast concrete framing.

MTE’s Involvement

Our team was initially brought on this project as the civil engineer to provide a site plan including site grading, site servicing, stormwater management design, site plan approval application, as well as construction inspection and certification.

We have also been responsible for the structural design and drawings, contract administration and construction review and certification. Construction is now complete and residents have moved into their suites.
