Kitchener Minor Baseball Association Batting Cage In-Kind Services
Services
Project Overview
The Kitchener Minor Baseball Associations (KMBA) aims to create a barrier-free baseball opportunity for youth. Relying on their dedicated team of volunteers, KMBA puts a focus on developing the skills and character of their players, in addition to engaging them within the community. They foster a safe and accessible environment with a solid commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
When the Association began experiencing growth in registration by 10 per cent annually over a five-year period, issues with diamond availability arose. Stuck without the proper space to practice in, an idea was conceived to construct a new batting cage facility at their Breithaupt Park Complex. The only obstacle was funding, leading the association to spend several years doing major community fundraising.
MTE’s Involvement
Seeing an alignment in our community-focused missions, MTE was happy to support the KMBA in their goal. Since a structural engineering review would be essential to the success of this project, our team decided that the we could best support this endeavor by providing these engineering services ‘in-kind’.
Our structural engineers took on the project and we were able to provide the review necessary for the project to proceed. The KMBA recognized MTE along with other project sponsors on a stone positioned near the batting cage.
The state-of-the-art facility officially opened in July of 2021.
