Project Overview

Agrico Canada, a division of Sollio Agriculture and La Coop fédérée, recently developed a state-of-the-art fertilizer coating plant in St. Thomas that will be dedicated to the production of advanced controlled-release fertilizers that were previously unavailable in this market.

The 24,000-ft2 structure has designated areas for processing, storage and office functionality. The facility aims to bolster local agricultural solutions, enabling farmers to enhance crop performance, boost profitability, and prioritize environmental sustainability in their agricultural practices.

MTE’s Involvement

Our structural engineering team completed the design of the steel facility. The processing space houses the plant’s equipment, and the 9,000-ft2 storage space was designed to store approximately 1500 tonnes of product. The ancillary space contains the motor control center and mechanical room, as well as office spaces and a quality assurance room.

Our team coordinated the structural design with the project team and worked with the equipment suppliers and the owner to determine the layout of the interior spaces. We provided support throughout the tendering process and completed construction inspections of the structural works.
