Project overview

Agrico Canada, a division of Sollio Agriculture and La Coop fédérée, completed the development of a fertilizer coating facility in St. Thomas. This new plant is dedicated to the production of advanced controlled-release fertilizers, offering solutions that were previously unavailable in the Canadian market.

Spanning 24,000 square feet, the facility includes designated areas for processing, storage, and office operations. Designed to support innovation in agriculture, the plant enables local farmers to improve crop performance, increase operational efficiency, and promote environmental sustainability in their practices.

MTE's Involvement

MTE was proud to provide structural engineering services for this purpose-built industrial facility.

Our team completed the structural design for the steel-framed building, which houses three core areas:

  • A processing area equipped to accommodate specialized plant machinery
  • A 9,000-ft² storage space designed to hold approximately 1,500 tonnes of product
  • An ancillary area that includes the motor control center, mechanical room, office space, and a quality assurance lab

We collaborated closely with the broader project team—including the owner and equipment suppliers—to ensure the internal layout supported both operational needs and workflow efficiency. Our responsibilities also included providing support during the tendering phase and conducting construction inspections of the structural works to verify compliance with design and safety standards.

Through close coordination and technical expertise, MTE helped bring this advanced facility to life.
