Designer, Municipal Engineering

Our Municipal Engineering team designs roads, bridges, and municipal facilities through Kitchener-Waterloo and the surrounding area. With staff at all levels of their career, we put an emphasis on collaboration and always work together to achieve the right solution. Our team is currently growing and we are seeking a Designer to join us at our Kitchener office.

    • Assist with design calculations based on engineering principles for various municipal development projects, meeting applicable regulatory codes and standards, and conveying design information to CAD staff for drafting completion;
    • Organize and prepare permit applications with municipalities or agencies;
    • Liaise with municipal staff, contractors, and the public and equipment suppliers;
    • Assist with the preparation of technical design reports and memos;
    • Attend and participate in project team meetings and coordinate with team members to ensure efficient and timely delivery of project deliverables; and
    • Other related duties, as assigned.
    • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology;
    • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience;
    • Pursuing C.Tech or C.E.T. designation;
    • Knowledge of underground servicing and municipal road design;
    • Knowledge of engineering principals and design standards
    • General familiarity with a broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields;
    • Strong technical report writing skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills;
    • Excellent attention to detail;
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills;
    • Strong problem solving skills;
    • Working knowledge of MS Office software, including Outlook, Excel and Word; and
    • Familiarity with various civil design software.
